Unappreciated Efforts

From the question of Tony Leviste in his article "Discover (and follow) your passion": What's stopping you from moving forward and exploring your passion?
Following your heart is requisite in choosing on what way you will take in order to achieve your goals in life. To be in the right track, a person should explore and identify first his passion by knowing himself through his desires, his abilities and skills, and his capacity. What is all he wants to do in life? What are his aspirations? These are two of the most important questions that he must answer to know truly his self and discover his passion for him to take the right track and achieve his goals without regrets.
I wanted to become a licensed civil engineer or hopefully lawyer, and in order for that to happen, I must strive hard, study to the best that I could, and be disciplined. I must give all my best even in the smallest tasks I will face because it could help me maintain the consistency of being in the right way. But as people that surround me never appreciated my works, it drives my diligence and also my self-confidence down. As I work hard and give all my efforts to a task, some like my teacher didn’t appreciate it, even I believe it stand out among others, they see it as same, specifically giving us all same grade. I just hate it when I gave all my time and efforts and it could not be appreciated by somebody I expected to be.
By provoking my hard-work and efforts, it also prevents me from dreaming that I could be one of the best students in my age. People who are smart are the ones who are mostly benefited than those who only have the guts. I don’t know if there’s a problem in the system I’m involved or the insensitive people who surround me. On the other hand, some also took advantage on my willingness in giving my efforts though in the end I would receive the same reward as them. I am the one who spent time and worked hard, and my group-mates do nothing, and yet we get the same grade after all. Today, I could say I'm tired. The persons with the skill and intelligence are the ones that are most helped by the professionals than those who are in scarce and need. I am one of those in scarce of knowledge and skills. But as being optimist, I must not be affected in these situations.
People may don’t appreciate your efforts you gave in a task, but it must not prevent you from being a diligent student. It is not for them, it is for yourself. If you really wanted to achieve your dreams and be in the right track, do what you think is necessary and avoid spending your hard-work on negligible things and insignificant people. You must gain knowledge and be stronger; even if it is selfish for the others, be industrious and never expect your fate on others.
